Statement of Purpose

George J. Adams, leader of the Christian Americans who established the Jaffa American Colony in 1866, stated: “We believe the time has come for Israel to gather home from their long dispersion to the land of their fathers.” He further stated: “We are going [to Jaffa] to become practical benefactors of the land and people, to take the lead in developing its great resources.” “We have no purpose to interfere with their religion.” Their purpose was not to missionize but instead to assist the Jewish people.

This continues to be the perspective of the Maine Friendship House, Jean and Dr. Reed Holmes, their amuta Keshet haShalom, and ViewPax Mondiale (USA non-profit).
